How To Enhance Your Chin Shape & Size Without Surgery!

You might have brilliant white teeth, flawless skin, a perfectly proportionate nose, and beautiful eyes. Yet something just seems… off. A regular request I receive from many of my patients is chin enhancement to correct an under projected chin. This typically is just the result of an underdeveloped jawline. Many times, this doesn’t even have to do with your body fat percentage, as you might be led to believe. It usually is just from the facial structure that you were born with. Yes, you can just blame mom and dad for this 😤. On a more positive note, this can easily be corrected. I’m fortunate enough to be well-known for my filler injection techniques for lips and chins. At THE MED SPA®, we offer FDA-Approved dermal fillers that can give the chin an appealing level of fullness. Ultimately, we want for you to have the perfect level of harmony between all of your facial features 😊.

Will a chin enhancement Really Change My Life For The Better?

YES! Think about it this way. We as humans rely heavily on visual cues, whether we like to admit it or not. Your appearance is a reflection of your inner being. Sorry, I didn’t make the rules 🤷‍♀️. You can also truly feel confident in yourself with your more refined facial structure. Studies have shown that a strong, firm chin has always been a common trait among people who are considered “attractive,” and a symmetrical face somehow translates to “trustworthy”. Again, I didn’t make the rules. Ultimately your inner character is what truly matters. However, if you look and feel more attractive, you will be more confident in your normal day to day activities, as you put your best face forward 😉.

How Do I Know That A Chin Enhancement Will Be Right For Me?

Here are few tell-tale signs that a chin projection might be right for you:

  1. Big nose - An under-projected chin tends to make your nose look much larger than it really is. They need to be balanced with each other. If one is smaller, the size of the other will be somewhat more exaggerated.

  2. Long neck - With little definition on your chin, it can sometimes even be hard for people to distinguish where your neck ends (especially in photographs).

  3. Little jawline definition - This jawline provides the framework for your entire face. A weak jawline definitely tends to manifest itself into the chin structure, as well. If there is not enough definition there, something will most definitely look “off”, as mentioned before.

  4. Double chin - I speak to many patients who think that they have a ‘double chin’ and are in need of Kybella™ to burn the fat pocket under their chin. Guess what? This isn’t always the case! Sometimes they simply have a shallow chin and actually need chin fillers to provide projection, which in turn, tightens the skin under the chin. This helps to eliminate the appearance of a double chin on an individual that is well within a healthy BMI (body mass index) and body fat percentage.

What Is Used For Chin Projection?

We use dermal fillers, also known as soft tissue fillers, for our chin projection procedures. The fillers that we use are made from substances such as hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is not only made to contour the face, it can also decrease the appearance of wrinkles and depressed scars. Some patients may also benefit from Kybella™ injections to reduce fat under their chin and jowls, as well. We will select the best treatment plan after consulting with the patient on their requested outcome and immediate needs.

Are Chin Fillers Permanent?

Your beautiful new chin should last from 6-12 months, sometimes longer. HA fillers are absorbed differently by each person and results will vary. We recommend that patients receive 2 touch-ups per year to maintain balance, projection and facial symmetry throughout the year.

What Will Recovery Look Like After a Chin Enhancement?

Fillers: No recovery time 😃. You may be a little sore after your injections, but you can maintain your normal activities that day!

Kybella™: If you received Kybella™ injections for the treatment of fat pockets under the chin, then your recovery time is slightly longer than that of filler injections. Kybella™ will cause the injection area to swell up for a few days post-treatment. Icing it will be incredibly helpful in speeding up your recovery time and easing the swelling. Find out more about Kybella™ here.
